These two songs are an exploration of various musical ideas inspired by my appreciation for the modern minimalist composers Philip Glass and Steve Reich and bands like Radiohead and Alt J. The overall tonal quality of the tracks feels somewhat similar to the sound of blowing into glass bottles or running your finger around the edge of a wine glass. For these reasons, the project took on a glass theme for me. The album title, Annealer, refers to a process of heating glass and allowing it to cool slowly, in order to remove internal stresses and toughen it. I connected to the term instantly due to its parallels to the emotional process I undertook in the creation and release of these two songs. My long time friend, Tom Sprung, lent his skill and creativity to the bass guitar on Metamorphonics.
